Hello. Your build is complete but it isn't showing any activity. You mentioned using a Gigabyte B250M D2V board, 16GB DDR4 RAM, a 1050 GPU, and a 650W PSU from your previous setup. The only new component was an i7-7700 CPU that's been tested and working. Despite everything functioning normally last time, the PC doesn't post—only the RGB lights briefly before turning off completely, while all fans keep spinning. After several restarts, it still didn’t boot. You’ve checked remounting parts, testing outputs, and running basic tests. There’s an odd detail: once you forgot to connect the 8-pin CPU power, the fans stayed on and the keyboard remained dark. Could you try these steps next?

1. **Verify power connections** – Double-check all cables, especially CPU power and PSU input.
2. **Test with minimal RAM** – Try using just one RAM stick to rule out memory issues.
3. **Inspect fan behavior** – Ensure no loose or damaged fans are causing intermittent shutdowns.
4. **Check BIOS settings** – Make sure the system is set to boot from the correct drive and that no corrupted firmware is present.
5. **Run a clean boot** – Boot without any startup programs to isolate the problem.
6. **Test with different RAM modules** – Sometimes faulty modules cause unexpected behavior.
7. **Inspect for dust or debris** – Even in a clean bag, particles can affect fans or vents.

If you follow these, it may help determine whether the issue is hardware-related or software/configuration-based. Let me know what you find!

Heya! How long did you wait until you called it a no-post and do you have another system you can test the CPU in or another known good CPU to put in the system. It sounds very odd that when you don't plug in the 8pin CPU power, the RGB stays on. The first thing I would try is unplugging all the RGB headers and then trying again, and checking the power connection from the PSU to the motherboard. What you can also try is unplugging all peripherals from the computer completely, damaged peripherals can stop a motherboard from posting. You may need to update the BIOS on the motherboard for it to support the i7 7700, however that requires a CPU that the motherboard's BIOS version can support.

Hey, thanks for your response.

1. I waited more than five minutes before making the call.
2. I don’t have a matching system or CPU to verify.
3. There are no RGB power connectors. The fans are non-PWM and linked together in one slot on the motherboard. One has SATA power. Without it plugged in, the fans won’t work at all.
4. I’ve repositioned components and cables several times now.
5. The motherboard should support the CPU by default. I used a 7600 chipset about two years ago and it performed perfectly.

I believe you've tested without any fans on. Do you have a TV or another monitor available to confirm there are no issues?

The problem resolved itself quickly. It functioned properly right after turning the system on. A bit of joy comes from working with PC construction. The fan LEDs flash briefly at startup and stay off afterward.

They could require configuration? I’m not very experienced with RGB, but perhaps there’s a suite of programs to check detection or a remote control option available. It’s possible the RGB is turned off on the fans initially—only activating briefly for a few seconds before they turn on. Not completely certain, but searching for a remote or installing RGB software might help.
