In short, your PC seems to have power issues. After being away for a couple of days, it didn’t turn on properly when you returned. You checked connections, tried different power sources, and even swapped thermal paste, but nothing worked. The specs look fine, so the problem might be with the power supply or internal components. Consider testing the PSU separately or checking for any loose connections.

The computer had no option but to run when you performed the "unplug and plug back" action.

It seems like you're trying to understand why your device isn't turning on despite some issues you've noticed. The problem might be subtle, so keep checking connections and power sources. If the smell of electricity is present, it could indicate a wiring issue. Also, ensure the CPU and GPU are properly seated and powered.

Didn't you attempt the switch on the power supply and then turn it on without success? Not sure what that means—I prefer this option! It seems there might have been a loose or faulty connector somewhere, and fixing it worked. Thanks! Edited June 23, 2024 by leclod

He probably connected it to the power outlet rather than using a power strip.

I turned off and on the PSU without any luck and it didn’t function. I tried connecting it directly to the wall using a power strip, which is safe since I’ve used it for years, but it still didn’t work. Then I unplugged everything on the motherboard and plugged it back in—suddenly it worked. I’m not sure why, but it’s a bit unsettling.
