The computer is running slow
Hi everyone, I've noticed something strange just this past weekend. My computer's speed has gone way down. YouTube is very slow when I try to hover over a video or move it to watch what I want; it takes forever instead of moving instantly. Even programs that open are just slow when they do anything else. Gaming seems okay for me because I have been playing a lot on the PS5 so far, but nothing new has come up there either. I noticed before this time that YouTube was constantly buffering while watching WoW in certain parts and not in main cities. I ran Malwarebytes and AVG, and neither found any viruses. Adwcleaner kept finding one thing to remove but wouldn't actually clean it properly. In the last week, I installed Office because of a course I'm taking. That required downloading a zip file with stuff for the course, but no virus came up again like before. The CPU and GPU temps are fine. Any help would be great since I can't just take my computer to a tech right now because I am not working from home yet. It has to be something simple or something easy that I could figure out why it is doing this without needing deep help first. Here are the PC specs: Case: Corsair Carbide Delta RGB Series Motherboard: MSI B550-A-Pro CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper EVO 212 RAM: HyperX 32GB GPU: EVGA GTX 2060 Power Supply: Corsair 750W 80 PLUS Gold Fully Modular Storage: Samsung SSD 970 Evo Plus 1 TB and it is just over a quarter full, with 628 GB free out of 930 GB. I am using Windows 10 Home.
Open Task Manager or Resource Monitor to see exactly why your computer feels slow when things get bad. Try using both tools but only pick one at a time. You can also try Process Explorer (free from Microsoft) if those don't answer all the questions. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysint...s-explorer Be careful, stay calm and observe closely. Don't rush or guess what's causing it. Ideally, you'll find something that is under your control like this: when a program "X" is running, things slow down, but if the app stops while still running, performance goes back up to normal. Just start by looking at the signs first. Wait until you are sure before trying to stop, delete, or uninstall anything. Write down what you see and share your findings with me.
Start the Reliability Monitor by typing the command "perfmon /rel" into the Run box on your computer, then take a picture (screenshot) of what it shows up there.
