I’m experiencing sudden crashes in Final Fantasy VII Remake after roughly ten minutes of play. It’s occurred about four times now, similar to what happened with Resident Evil: Village last year. Even though I’ve played demanding games like Horizon: Zero Dawn and Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order afterward, the issue persists. I’m using a 4K display with an RTX 6800 XT and AMD Ryzen 5800X. The temperatures reached on the GPU and CPU before the last crash were the same as before.
It's not only a game crashing but the entire system failing, which means you can't just close Task Manager to end the game. Have you adjusted the system's overclocking settings or enabled automatic overclocks outside of D.O.C.P in BIOS? To eliminate software as the reason, try running Furmark to check your GPU performance under stress for a steady duration.
Perform prime95 large FFTs for RAM assessment. Minor FFT results can be disregarded since CPU instability is easily resolved by reducing frequency or increasing voltage, whereas in RAM situations precise timing and voltage levels must be exact—adding too much voltage isn't simply acceptable.
Consider including Prime95 in the mix but didn’t want to run it alongside furmark simultaneously. If furmark works alone, try about 20 minutes of Prime95 stress test. Should both perform adequately independently, combine them. If you encounter restart problems, check the power supply first—around 750W seems close to the limit, while 850/860 offers a bit more buffer.
