Never experienced problems with my computer before. Recently while installing a game launcher, the program froze. This can occur sometimes. I checked Task Manager to close it, but it didn’t load well and became unstable too. My browser followed the same pattern and eventually I couldn’t do anything, so I had to restart the PC. This incident happened yesterday. Today it happened again while installing another game. First the launcher stopped working, opening Task Manager was slow and unresponsive, then everything slowed down. I tried restarting via the Start menu, but it kept looping and had to force a reboot again. What might be causing this?
I would execute "sfc /scannow" via cmd, verify the crystal disk status for drive condition, and proceed from there. Restoring the OS might be the best option, though I tend to save it last since it can be challenging depending on your data configuration. Edit: also review the Event Viewer for any pertinent errors, warnings, or critical alerts around those times—it could help clarify the issue.
Your computer is experiencing severe performance issues while running League of Legends. The game stalls for over ten seconds, freezes repeatedly, and the whole system becomes unresponsive. The drive you've used since 2017 might be failing, but it could also be a software or hardware problem. You might want to try saving your progress now before the situation worsens.
I'm writing this on my computer, which might not be working properly. I'm facing a problem where my whole system slows down, as if it's taking a long time to process every action I make—like opening or closing programs, playing games, etc. Right now it seems okay for a while, but I'm concerned. I downloaded the Crystal Disk utility and it says my main 7-year-old SSD is fine, but only 61% capacity left. It doesn't seem to recognize my other 2TB SSD either, for some reason. All issues start when I open a program or play a game from that drive. My PC became unresponsive in several moments:
- The first time was yesterday when installing League of Legends. The client froze, I tried closing it in Task Manager but it didn't work or crashed, so I had to restart the whole system.
- Today, when trying to install Torchlight Infinite on the same drive, it also froze, followed by a complete system freeze needing another reboot.
- Playing League of Legends worked once, but in the second game it hung for over 10 seconds straight, with audio lagging and stuttering.
- After rebooting, the PC remained unresponsive and wouldn't shut down or restart normally, so I had to force a reboot again.
- After the final reboot, when I played the game, it still had extreme lag and freezing, though it eventually started.
- Now, after the game ended, I hear sounds as if it's closing every two minutes instead of instantly.
This has happened repeatedly. I'm worried about losing my data. Is this a problem with the second drive? Could it be my main drive? I don't know what to do. Can you help me figure this out?
You can back up your Windows system by using an external USB drive or another reliable storage method. The BIOS being updated doesn’t affect the backup process itself. Resetting the CMOS might reset your system’s settings, which could help if you’re unsure whether to proceed. Just be careful and follow your device’s instructions to avoid damage.
