Hey everyone, since I switched to a different MOBO (ASUS Rog Strix B550-f), I’ve noticed that after turning off my PC and then back on the next day, it doesn’t connect or get internet. I’ve tried everything—plugging it into other ports—but the only fix I found is switching the Ethernet cable. My brother’s computer is right next to mine, so whenever this happens, we swap the cables between us and both work fine. It seems the issue isn’t with the cables themselves. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Have you considered removing the device entirely before trying other fixes? Checking if the network adapter is reset or rebooted might help. Make sure your system isn’t in sleep mode or hibernation. Verify if fast startup is turned off. Also, confirm that motherboard drivers and BIOS are up to date.

Yes, I’ve unplugged and plugged it in. MOBO and BIOS are updated. I’m shutting down the PC. The only option left is to reset the network adapter. I just turned it on last night and the problem came back. My PC isn’t recognizing the LAN cable connected, so I had to switch cables from my little brother’s PC.

I meant disconnecting the Ethernet cable rather than unplugging the whole device. Just let me know if it wasn't clear. Instead of swapping it with your brother after turning it off, plug it back in briefly. Also, does swapping with his computer work? Is his machine powered on during this process? Fast startup or boot issues? Consider uninstalling the NIC, restarting, and reinstalling drivers (download them first). There could be a problem if the router can't assign an IP when the PC powers up. If possible, reset the router and see if that resolves the issue.
