My computer has been crashing when I go to play games. This has been happening about two weeks and has hindered me from playing any games. The issue occurs not on loading the applications but when the applications finally load into a playable environment. My computer screen will immediately go black and the bios will show up as if I had a power outage. I will never even see the environment.
OS: Windows 10
Video Card: 980ti
Things I have tried.
I have tried different driver versions for my nvidia card.
Previous major stable release from a few months ago - 431.60
The most recent stable Nvidia release - 441.66
Checked event viewer after crash, no messages that would relate anything to crashing. Just some "The last shutdown was unexpected".
Logged my GPU sensors with GPU-Z. I will attach. These show no abnormal spikes for the GPU.
I have reloaded my OS with a fresh windows 10.
Queried my hard drive against CrystalDiskInfo. No issues, will attach.
Checked BlueScreenView for possible blue screens, nothing.
The issue is 100% reproducible on GTA-V, FF14, Dragon's Dogma, Skyrim.
I am looking for some ideas on how I might be able to log this differently or possibly some advanced troubleshooting for my Nvidia Card. Or maybe some idiotic thing I am overlooking.

My computer has been crashing when I go to play games. This has been happening about two weeks and has hindered me from playing any games. The issue occurs not on loading the applications but when the applications finally load into a playable environment. My computer screen will immediately go black and the bios will show up as if I had a power outage. I will never even see the environment.
OS: Windows 10
Video Card: 980ti
Things I have tried.
I have tried different driver versions for my nvidia card.
Previous major stable release from a few months ago - 431.60
The most recent stable Nvidia release - 441.66
Checked event viewer after crash, no messages that would relate anything to crashing. Just some "The last shutdown was unexpected".
Logged my GPU sensors with GPU-Z. I will attach. These show no abnormal spikes for the GPU.
I have reloaded my OS with a fresh windows 10.
Queried my hard drive against CrystalDiskInfo. No issues, will attach.
Checked BlueScreenView for possible blue screens, nothing.
The issue is 100% reproducible on GTA-V, FF14, Dragon's Dogma, Skyrim.
I am looking for some ideas on how I might be able to log this differently or possibly some advanced troubleshooting for my Nvidia Card. Or maybe some idiotic thing I am overlooking.

The DirectX Diagnostic Tool provides a substantial amount of technical data, though much of it is not particularly helpful. However, you can obtain some details about your computer’s specifications using it…

Processor: Intel Core i7-960
RAM: DDR3 24GB
Graphics Card: GTX 980
Monitor: A Samsung 4K display.

The following information is also required:

- Motherboard manufacturer and model – this can be determined using CPU-Z and selecting the Mainboard tab.
- Storage drive manufacturer and model details.
- Power supply unit manufacturer and model – locate the label inside the case that displays this information. Specifically, here’s an example: EVGA Supernova 550 GM.

Regarding your memory setup, I have a query: Is that configuration comprised of –
- Three 8GB modules
- Six 4GB modules
- Or an expansion of your original setup?

I was planning to share these, but you accurately identified the problem with the power supply. After swapping it out for a spare I had, everything started working correctly immediately. Thank you very much for guiding me to the solution!
