The computer doesn't appear in the network despite having network discovery turned on.
Hi everyone, I'm working on getting synergy, network sharing, and file syncing to function properly with my new laptop. I've experimented with different service updates and Windows Defender firewall settings, but nothing seems to work. I've also tried turning off and re-enabling network discovery so it doesn't appear on the network list on each machine. One device connects via AC-7260 on Wi-Fi, while another uses Ethernet. This wasn't a problem before. If anyone has any tips or fixes, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks, ~LazyChaz
Reviewed my router configuration but didn’t locate the specific option. Noted that Invisibility on LAN was active on my laptops via VPN. This caused the laptop to appear in the desktop file manager while missing from the reverse direction. Interacting with it triggers an error: 0x80070035 "Network path not found."
A VPN can complicate things if it includes a kill switch feature, which usually prevents access to the local network unless you specifically target the router's IP address. I recently encountered this issue when logging into a remote server via VPN and being locked out until someone reset the device. It’s worth testing without the VPN enabled, especially if the app auto-starts, as that could trigger the kill switch immediately. If it won’t disable, that’s a concern.
I think the connection should allow access without the VPN active. It seems like it might be blocking when it's off, so removing the program and restarting could confirm whether the issue is resolved.
I understand everything, you assume "just one more attempt," but then the sun rises.
