The computer began stuttering and drivers installation kept failing with error 1603.
Browser, version and system: Google Chrome on Windows 10. Steps to recreate/previous actions? I powered on my PC and faced stuttering issues right away. What caused it? The issue lies with my GPU drivers. I own an AMD Radeon 5700 XT and recently experienced constant stuttering while using the computer. I attempted various fixes: using ddu, running AMD cleanup tool, switching drivers, updating to new versions, removing all AMD files, disabling security settings, performing factory reset, using DISM /Online Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth, and running SFC /SCANNOW. The recurring error is 1603. Would any assistance be helpful? I’m open to completely erasing my SSD if that resolves the problem. Please let me know what outcome you anticipated. To fix things, I’d like to download the drivers and everything would function normally. Any additional details would be appreciated: Hardware list – AMD Radeon 5700 XT, AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-core, MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX ATX AM4 board, G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB (2×8 GB DDR4-3600 CL16), Samsung 970 Evo 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME SSD, Seagate Barracuda Compute 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM HDD, EVGA SuperNOVA GA 650W 80+ Gold certified fully modular ATX power supply.
More detailed specifications would help refine the search. Generally, if this is the same model board, MSI hasn't endorsed kits above 3200 Mhz. This suggests a potential compatibility concern. There were random post failures and RAM issues without proper QVL. It might not resolve the problem, but disabling XMP/DOCP could be worth checking.
It's unlikely but there is also a possibility of a faulty SSD, I would try switching to another and see if the stuttering remains.
