I’m facing some challenges I didn’t expect. I shared similar posts on multiple forums and even on the Microsoft site twice, but I haven’t received any responses or solutions. My new PC started acting up after installation—slow performance, especially when using GTA V. Pressing the num lock takes about five seconds for the light to turn on, and sometimes it doesn’t activate at all. My disk usage spikes to 100% during gameplay, making it nearly impossible to play. While I was running Cooking Simulator, it loaded but then froze, showing the same numlock delay without the light ever coming on. I had to restart the computer to fix it. The hardware specs look fine, but the drive seems damaged. I’m trying to figure out what’s going wrong and how to get it back online.
Those details wouldn't make GTA V work, and I think it's unlikely Cooking Simulator would either. The hard drive could be the issue, but the rest of your setup contributes more to the slowdown you're seeing.
All your equipment appears to be outdated. The system itself is more than a decade old—everything here dates back to around 2015. If you want to run any game from after 2016, you’ll need to replace the hard drive entirely. For the best experience, games like TF2 or LoL would work much better.
It operates smoothly at up to 40 frames per second on lower-end systems, which suits my needs perfectly.
Is it okay if the frame rate is decent, but the heavy lag isn’t helping? Check out what you’d achieve with a refurbished PS4 and a used copy of GTA V—you’d likely hit around 30 frames per second on medium settings without any lag.
