Greetings to you all,
I’m seeking information about 4K gaming. I possess a GTX 1080, an i5-4670K processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 4K display. However, when I attempt to run games – particularly newer titles – in 4K resolution, the colors appear muted and the screen is excessively bright, as if the gamma setting is unusually high. I initially believed this was a characteristic of 4K displays, but now suspect it’s not logical. When I play at 1440p, the visuals are accurate and the brightness is ideal. Could you possibly advise me on what might be causing this issue? Thank you for your consideration.
Previous iterations of Windows 10 led to issues in 4K gaming with HDR via Windows 10, however, this problem has been resolved in newer build releases. It’s essential to ensure your system is fully updated, with version 1903 being the most current.
I've identified the root cause of the issue. Simply adjusting the output range to maximum in the NVIDIA Control Panel at 4K resolution resolved it completely. Thank you for your assistance.
