Hey everyone, just finished setting up my first PC in ten years. After launching my first game to check temperatures, I caught some coil whine coming from the GPU (XFX RX 6800 XT) and PSU (EVGA 850 BQ). I thought about returning the GPU on Amazon, but since the noise isn’t too loud, I’m still unsure. I know coil whine shouldn’t damage anything, but I’ve noticed it can cause weird sinusoidal artifacts in an old TN monitor I use elsewhere. Have I encountered this issue before? Should I be concerned?
It seems the old monitor is linked in a standard way—likely HDMI or DP. The coil whine is typical for this setup, and you won’t find a top-tier GPU without it, so everything looks fine.
The most unusual part is that the monitor isn't connected to the same computer as the VGA cable, even though they're just a few feet apart. The cables are both in the same management rack, which is why they're the only items nearby. You seem to think it's better not to request a refund or replacement. Would another card always have the same problem? My concern is mainly about interference from this monitor affecting other devices or components around me.
