I disassembled the PC and reset the CMOS, which resolved the issue. However, there are burn marks on the device.
Evidence points more toward corrosion. The battery shows about 3–3.3V, which isn’t sufficient to produce burn marks.
It might just be normal wear from handling during delivery. You can swap it out easily, it’s usually inexpensive, though unless the BIOS begins losing data, there’s probably no serious issue.
