I need to perform a complete system reset on my Asus laptop, but the cloud download isn't available when I select "Reset this PC" in recovery. It automatically assumes a fresh installation from this machine, which I don't want because I'm experiencing BSOD issues and local storage problems for over a year. I've run SFC DISM multiple times without success, downloaded drivers from MyJava, but drive errors remain unchanged. My only choice is to cleanly reinstall Windows 11. MyJava says everything looks fine, though I need to verify. Can you assist? Thank you.

Transfer the faulty storage and obtain Windows 11 installation media from the MS website onto a USB drive.

If you're attempting to resolve BSODs, avoid using the Windows Reset option, whether it's a local reset or a cloud reset (which seems what you meant?). The Windows Reset merely refreshes Windows libraries and reuses existing third-party drivers, which is why it doesn't solve the issue. As previously recommended, save Windows 11 to a USB drive, boot from that drive, select a custom installation, remove all UEFI partitions, and install on the empty drive.

Here’s a revised version of your message:

I successfully cleaned the cloud download using the mediacreationtool while maintaining my apps and settings (ISO method). I hope this resolves the BSOD I've been experiencing for months.

The person above mentioned performing a clean install with DDU for my GPU drivers, as I lack experience with USB drives and partitions. I'm cautious about deleting ASUS WinRE to prevent further issues, which is why you suggested avoiding that route. Limited access to tutorials and hardware has made things more complicated for me.

It's interesting to note that my Jasus tests passed everything successfully before now. I think this means my Jasus isn't detecting problems as effectively, which is fine for now.

I've never done a cloud install before, so it was always a reinstall from my laptop. That likely explains the problem. Thanks again!

There is no 'cloud install,' just a cloud reset. A Windows reset isn't the same as a clean install, as explained before. A reset, whether cloud-based or local, doesn't remove any third-party drivers, and when BSODs occur, that's where the issue is.

Thanks for the details. The laptop is a G15 Asus Zephyrus with some issues in 2022. If other options don’t work, can I revert to Windows 10? My current system is Windows 10 and feels more reliable than Windows 11. Is this machine compatible with Windows 10 or will I be stuck on Windows 11 forever? Appreciate the help!

Usually, there isn't a rollback available unless you upgraded from version 10 to 11 within the past 30 days.

Yes sir, the laptop comes with Windows 11, but I was thinking about installing Windows 10 just in case I encounter BSOD again later.

A Win 10 would be a full wipe and reinstall.
But in reality, there is little difference between 10 and 11.
If it happens again, discover
why
, instead of assuming Win 10 is the answer.
And you'd likely run into driver and licensing issues with Win 10.
