The issue you're facing isn't clear from the message, but it sounds like the Cisco AP file isn't loading properly. Check the file path, permissions, and ensure the device is connected correctly. If the problem persists, review the logs for more details.

Observed mention of flash:// directory in the screenshot. Alternative suggestions: verify folder permissions, adjust filenames to avoid duplicates or length issues, relocate ROM files to the root instead of a subfolder. Embedded operating systems can be quite resistant. Unfortunately, I don’t have deep experience with Cisco equipment.

The AP model is identified. It has booted previously. It was running in either lightweight or autonomous mode. Yes, you can boot from the k9w8 images.

It's a Cisco Aironet AirCap3502i-e-K9 model, an older version. It works with the K9W8 image, but the K9W7 image causes a boot failure.

It looks like a typo was made with the boot file path. The correct format should be /ap3g1-k9w7-mx.153-3.JF15. Edit: The image should be a .tar file, not just a regular file. You mentioned extracting it and pointing to a directory inside, which seems to be the right approach.

I've already attempted that, but it didn't work. The correct command should be set BOOT flash:/ap3g1-k9w7-mx.153-3.JF15/ap3g1-k9w7-mx.153-3.JF15
