I changed the room and unplugged everything from the PC, but I misplaced the cables—both are 3GX0.75. It doesn’t really matter which you use for the monitor or PSU.

It usually doesn't matter unless the cable specifies otherwise. Power design is tailored for particular devices regardless of the cable.

Usually the wires you receive from things like an affordable screen on Amazon, a 2000W power supply, or a 4K at 144Hz monitor are meant to work together.

In that specific scenario you should pay more attention. A 2000 watt power supply might include a stronger wire to manage the additional current, while the monitors could have thinner or lighter cables. Even if they connect, it's better to use the heavier cable from the PSU. Remember the wire gauge matters too; a thicker cord doesn't automatically mean better quality—it just means more insulation for the same appearance.

Cables are sourced from an MSI MGP-850GFP and an Acer 1080P 144Hz monitor, since I mentioned the gauge thickness matches.

Absolutely valid observation. The core idea remains, though some details might vary slightly.
