I have a TOSHIBA Satellite C55-A-1NU notebook and I need to dual boot. I already have Windows 7 installed, but I didn’t prepare a Windows 8 CD. When I put the CD in ROM, it doesn’t say anything and I can’t press the boot key. Can you help me?

Typically the BIOS button is F2 or Delete. Press them together. Check your motherboard’s boot display, it will show which keys to use for the boot menu.

Toshiba's boot menu is typically reached using the F12 key. Other models may require a different approach—try shutting down the machine, pressing and keeping down the 0 key, then restarting while maintaining the key. This can help bypass the default settings and load the CD.

It used to be some of the f-numbers f10 or f12, but I’m not sure why it changed. Perhaps because I created another partition inside Windows? Now pressing anything brings me to Windows 7 or a diagnostic tool.

Have you heard about any recent BIOS updates from Toshiba’s service center? It seems Fast Boot might be the cause. I suggest turning off the device fully, pressing and holding F2, then restarting while keeping F2 pressed. This usually gets you into the BIOS setup where you can turn off Fast Boot and adjust boot settings. Good luck!

Check Toshiba's support site. I reviewed it, but my model ID isn't showing any device.
