The BIOS OC is inconsistent, but the same OC in Intel XTU remains reliable?
The BIOS OC is inconsistent, but the same OC in Intel XTU remains reliable?
I own an ASRock Extreme4 x99 motherboard and an Intel i7-5820k with a Cryorig H5 Ultimate cooling solution. I used the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility to adjust the CPU settings and performed a stress test with AIDA64. The results showed a stable clock speed of 4.4Ghz at 1.2002v, and the temperature remained around 74°C. After four hours, the setup worked well until I tried applying the same settings in BIOS. At that point, the computer would freeze during startup and required holding the power button to shut it down.
Short and Sweet:
Why does my OC work in Intel XTU but freeze when booting with BIOS settings applied?

Intel could be implementing further adjustments, possibly increasing the vCore by a few ticks and adding a slight boost of +0.04.
A major concern with that board is that the voltages shown in BIOS aren't correct. This problem is well-known among ASRock users, but for more information you can check the link provided. Please be extremely cautious when adjusting voltages on this board, or you might damage the CPU or motherboard.
