Not as many long windows 10 versions are available... Honestly, I was thinking about purchasing a Z2 Extreme handheld device... You have options like Windows 11 – it seems to have major problems with most updates… essentially it works well until the first Windows update. ...Steam OS is fine, but there’s very little information about what will be pre-installed, which apps can actually run, or if a browser, video player, or editor exists. I just want to play my games and experiment with media, and I really dislike a cluttered, big-picture interface. I’m a casual gamer who doesn’t need a console-like experience at all... ...Fine, that’s enough. ...Same issue – no details except some daily-use apps can’t be installed or aren’t available, and they’re a real pain to set up... So I didn’t buy anything... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
There are noticeable problems with the latest updates and storage devices. It's unclear if a solution exists yet. The current version still uses Vista Service Pack 2... I'm experiencing minor issues with 24h2, possibly unrelated to Windows or my laptop. The brightness control isn't functioning properly, and changing brightness is only possible via Nvidia Control Panel. Some keyboard shortcuts are unresponsive. Overall, most functions work well, performance remains strong, though Windows 10 might not be significantly worse.
Goo Good question RE: Steam, even though its locked down, applications can be installed. Switch to Desktop Mode and use the Discover app to search for and install software from Flathub. Alternatively, you can use tools like Distrobox or Nix for more advanced installation options. There's also a very good how-to article on https://www.gamingonlinux
