The audio driver stopped functioning following the Windows update.
After the latest Windows 1709 update, my audio driver stopped functioning properly. Initially, I believed the "Speaker Fill" sound enhancement wasn't working, but soon I noticed only two speakers were active while others remained silent. My motherboard is an Asus P7-H55-mlx with USB 3.0. I’m aware my graphics card is outdated, and Via provides drivers for Windows 10 which worked until the last update around 1703. What should I do now? I first thought only the Sound Fill feature was faulty, so I reinstalled the driver. However, before doing that, multi-channel audio worked fine. The Via software is still available in the Start menu and can be accessed directly. Now I can’t locate it except after uninstalling apps. I reached out to Via Audio on their Facebook page, but they confirmed they won’t release a driver for Windows 10 anymore. An interesting point: another user mentioned rolling back to an earlier version, with ten days left before the deadline. So, I should try that option before the time runs out. Surprisingly, the VIA driver website stated they no longer support audio drivers for Windows 10.
Attempted to update the latest drivers but audio remains unresponsive. Windows troubleshooter didn’t assist. Consider checking the sound card.
