The Asus USB bios flashback is really catching my attention—B550, 5900X
Hey everyone! I just installed a new build with a 5900x, Asus B550-F Gaming (no Wi-Fi), and a 32GB Adata Spectrix D60G. The board supports USB bios flashing, which is what I need since the system keeps freezing when I press F2 or Del to open the BIOS utility. I downloaded the correct firmware and renamed it using the auto rename tool. I’m using a formatted FAT32 16GB USB stick that I cleaned with disk part. I plugged it into the motherboard while it was off, held the button until the green light started blinking—about 15 seconds, varying speed, which suggests the firmware is writing correctly. After that time it went solid, but then stopped. Now I’m really stuck; I have the right firmware, but it seems to pause during flashing. I’ve tried other USB drives and would really appreciate any advice.
Ensure the drive is connected properly. Check if the CPU is present on the motherboard during the process. If no improvement, consider using a different USB drive. You may need another motherboard if necessary.
Thanks for your help! If anyone later reads this and is curious: Yes, my PC has all the necessary components installed. The issue was resolved when I discovered the download on Asus's site was actually a beta firmware. I went back to earlier versions until I found a stable release, which fixed the problem completely!
