I owned an old, damaged laptop—probably an Asus notebook—that I aimed to repurpose into a compact computer. I wanted to remove all unnecessary components like the battery, speaker, and screen, then shrink it down to the smallest possible size. It was functioning properly until I enclosed it in a case. Once inside, everything stopped working. The power light would flicker briefly after holding it for a few seconds, but when I plugged it in, the lights came on. However, pressing the power button didn’t activate anything. I suspect the CPU is heating up as it starts up, yet the fan remains off. Nothing appears on the screen. I’ve attempted simple fixes such as cleaning the RAM socket and performing a hard reset, but results were disappointing. Any suggestions?

It seems the power button isn't functioning properly. You might want to disconnect all power cords and reattach them, or check if the RAM is properly seated.

I've tested both options already. The power button functions correctly; when you press it for five seconds, the indicator lights up and turns off again, suggesting a restart.
