The ASUS monitor is not starting properly and is stuck in a boot process.
While on vacation I kept my computer powered on for roughly three days, monitors still connected. No outages occurred. Upon returning, I powered on my PC and the ASUS VG278QR booted up, displayed the logo briefly, then restarted. It's now stuck in a repetitive cycle lasting over an hour. I've attempted power resets, switched cables, and used another device, but it doesn't resolve the issue—unless the power cable is connected, it flashes the logo every few seconds. I haven't found a fix by searching online or checking forums; the video file monitor_boot_loop.mp4 shows what's happening.
Consider using a different device such as a DVD player or laptop to check the behavior. It might be that your monitor suddenly started having issues during that 3-day break. If it remains under warranty, reach out to ASUS for an RMA. Otherwise, you could ask a repair shop for a quote. Good luck! P.S., does this monitor support selectable inputs? If so, try another input and then switch back to HDMI.
As discussed earlier, I used another device, but after extensive troubleshooting, I realized the power brick was faulty. This solution might not be ideal, but it resolved the issue temporarily. For future reference, the problem was the power brick itself. I’ve managed to work around it by cutting a compatible plug and connecting it to an old charger with the right voltage. A new power brick will be necessary soon.
Essentially, we created a short-term fix. We should anticipate how long this becomes more permanent. At least we identified the problem and found a solution. Wishing you a happy Christmas and a great New Year!
