I recently moved to a Spectrum Community Solutions Wi-Fi in my building, and now I’m missing Ethernet because the modem/router is fixed to the wall in our living room. I purchased an ASUS AC88 wireless PCIE card in hopes of boosting my connection, but I’m experiencing significant lag and ping fluctuations, especially during online gaming. These issues only appear during gaming sessions—CoD, Overwatch, Escape from Tarkov, CS:GO—and not when I was on Ethernet. Compared to my old setup, the AC88 doesn’t provide the same signal strength; instead of a strong signal, I’m seeing fewer bars. The drivers I’m using are the ones ASUS suggests, and I’ve tried updating them via Device Manager. They seem to be at their latest version. I’m also testing different configurations manually, like disabling location services or turning off Wi-Fi completely, but nothing seems to fix the problem. The AC88 appears weaker than my previous wireless card, which was a small stand connected to coaxial cables. With the stock Wi-Fi adapter, I consistently saw full signal strength in Windows, but now it’s reduced. I’m still using the recommended drivers and haven’t found a solution yet. For reference, when I ping servers from Blizzard’s US Central WoW server using CMD, the lag is more noticeable on the gaming side and sometimes lasts for a few seconds. I’m not sure why this happens, and I’ve tried several workarounds—like running CMD with admin rights, disabling location services, and even turning off the network adapter—but none resolved it. The modem is about 20 feet away, just a drywall apart from the AC88 antenna. I’ve aimed the devices in various directions and tested multiple setups. My PC specs are pretty standard, running Windows 10 Pro with a full tower case and a high-end processor. I’m hoping someone can help, or at least suggest another approach if I can’t delete windows32.
