I upgraded my Unraid Storage Server using an Asrock X570 Phantom Gaming 4 motherboard and an AMD Ryzen 5 3400G processor. Everything started up smoothly, and I successfully configured BIOS settings without any problems. I set the boot priority to the USB drive holding UNRAID, testing various rear I/O 3.0 ports. However, when the system restarts, it automatically jumps straight into the BIOS menu. Pressing F11 to force a boot from the USB doesn’t change anything—it still leads back to the BIOS. No error messages appear, and there are no apparent issues with the drive itself. The UNRAID server was functioning properly just a few days prior, but I experienced some hardware problems with my previous motherboard and CPU.
I understand you're trying to confirm the setup. It's possible the adjustments affected your boot options, so I'll test a CMOS reset and see if it resolves the issue. Also, consider using a Windows 10 or Linux bootable drive to verify functionality. If successful, the problem likely isn't with the hardware. A BIOS update might also help.
Windows Boot Media functioned, which was frustrating. I switched to Flash BIOS and the system halted completely. I removed an HBA card I previously had installed, and it now boots properly. I'm planning to flash the BIOS again, hoping it won't damage the 3400G support.
Problem resolved. The UNRAID USB needed the CSM enabled. For some reason, the three latest BIOS versions for this board don’t include CSM, even though it’s listed. The menu is blank. I had to revert to the fourth revision to actually get CSM. That fixed the issue. I submitted a service ticket to Asrock to report the problem and hope they address it.
Wow, I hadn’t considered the CSM yet. It seems a bit surprising. Which BIOS version are you currently using? Which ones failed? I’m planning to check them later. I have the same hardware, but I’m running Windows on it.
Running on BIOS Revision 2.60, I noticed CSM appears in the menu but when I check the submenu it just says "CSM Is Disabled" with no way to turn it back on. AsRock advised me to enable UEFI booting, which I can do using UNRAID, though I wasn’t expecting that to be required. It seems CSM support isn’t working properly, and this isn’t my responsibility.
I'm at 2:30 with nothing to report. It's odd they'd say that. I'm curious how my CSM choices will change after updating to the latest BIOS, especially since I need that for the Ryzen 5000.
