They're miscalculating. The third-gen Ryzen handles up to 3600Mhz, possibly more. The second-gen model supports around 3200Mhz.
I tried Corsair Vengeance 3000MHz first, then switched to 3200MHz on the same board. The 3000MHz didn’t boot at 3000MHz via XMP, but the 3200MHz version worked perfectly at 3200MHz using XMP. I’m not sure if the issue was a faulty kit, so I might consider another model or brand for more certainty.
