Hello, I built the system you described the previous week. It’s a Ryzen 7 3700X with Wrath Spire cooler (connected via RGB header 1) on an Asus ROG Strix B550-E using WIFI RAM from Corsair Vengeance LPX Black 16GB (2x8GB), DDR4, 3600MHz, CL18 [CMK16GX4M2D3600C18]. The graphics card is a Gigabyte GTX 1070 WINDFORCE OC 8G (rev. 2.0, GV-N1070WF2OC-8GD). The case uses a Thermaltake Core G21 PSU, paired with an EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G1 80+ GOLD 750W power supply.

I purchased three ID-Cooling XF-12025 fans and connected their headers to the motherboard using CHA_FAN slots and one ARGB header on the bottom of the board. When I powered it up, it emitted a lot of beeps, showed a Q code (unclear), but the CPU debug LED stayed solid and no display appeared. The RGB lights on both the motherboard and the cooler failed to activate. The CPU error only appeared after I connected the fan’s ARGB header.

After unplugging that header, the PWM fans worked fine and the system booted normally. However, the motherboard lights stayed off, and Aura in the case didn’t recognize any devices until I entered my password (likely during Aura setup).

In Aura Crate, everything is working now with all effects enabled. I’m wondering if the fans might have interfered with controllers or voltage regulators. Did I need a separate RGB fan controller instead of using the motherboard headers? Any advice would be appreciated.

Do you have the opportunity to obtain a new cooler, and are you currently using the standard one?

I swapped the stock thermaltake fan for an ID-Cooling model. All three chassis fans use ID-cooling (identical unit) and they spin, but they won’t light unless an ARGB cable is connected to a hub or motherboard. My issue was CPU errors when I plugged ARGB directly into the motherboard’s ARGB header. Now those errors disappear once I disconnect the ARGB cable from the motherboard. I plan to adjust BIOS settings and run Armoury software to check if the motherboard and AMD cooler lights up when the PC starts, not just during Windows launch.

It appears the RGB lighting didn’t activate due to a BIOS adjustment. Linking the argb wire straight to the motherboard header wasn’t intended to function. Using the fan hub with its RGB controller might help, but I’m concerned reusing it could trigger the CPU error again and potentially damage the board.
