The AMD Ryzen 7600X frequently stops and restarts upon powering up the computer.
Hello everyone. I’m facing some issues with my PC. It’s not too bad, but I’m curious if there’s a way to fix it. Whenever I power it on, after a few minutes I land in Windows. Sometimes it stops working and crashes, forcing a restart. After that, it restarts again, but if it doesn’t boot properly afterward, it can be frustrating. When I turn it off and back on, things usually work fine for a while. However, there are times when the USB ports—like my mouse or keyboard—seem to behave strangely. They get unplugged and then plugged back in without issue.
Here’s what my PC specs look like: AMD Ryzen 7 7600X, Thermalright Royal Pretor ASRock B650M Pro RS Wifi (new BIOS), Adata XPG Lancer 2x32GB, 6000MHz Powercolor 7900 GRE Hellhound SSD, Samsung Evo 970 250GB, Adata Legend 900 2TB PSU, Corsair RM850X, Windows 11, Corsair Commander.
I’ve been using this machine for about three months. Previously, I had an Intel i5 11400 and everything ran smoothly. Now, when it boots into Windows, sometimes the taskbar hides itself automatically (which I usually leave off), and I get an error asking for a firmware update on Corsair Commander. If that happens, the PC restarts or shuts down and can’t boot again. Usually, after the second start, things work fine.
I’ve tried several fixes: reinstalling Windows 11, setting DDR as default, underclocking the CPU, using Eco Mode, removing Corsair Commander, updating BIOS—but nothing seems to help consistently. Occasionally it works, but not always.
I’m new to AMD and read some online comments about instability in AM5. I’m not sure if my motherboard or RAM is faulty, and the CPU temperatures are normal (around 30-35°C idle, up to 72°C max). I’m not sure if everything is in order, so I’m reaching out for advice. This is my first time using an AMD system.
1 - Perform MemTest86 overnight (or about 30 minutes if you can't stay overnight) to check for RAM problems. You might also boot with just one RAM stick in different slots to detect DIMM or slot issues.
2 - Use Event Viewer (Windows Logs > System) immediately after a crash to identify any critical errors or warnings that suggest hardware or driver problems.
3- Launch Hardware Monitor or HWiNFO: Verify voltages during idle and boot—fluctuations in 12V, 5V, or 3.3V could indicate a power supply issue. Let me know what you find.
I haven't run the MemTest yet; I plan to try tonight or tomorrow. I’ll test the RAM in different slot tests if possible, since my HSF block is preventing it. I completed the 2 & 3 checks. I’m not sure which logs Windows uses correctly, but I did find one critical issue. For the 12V 5V and 3.3V connections, I can only see them on the motherboard and also tested them. There’s no fluctuation in the PSU during idle or startup. Thanks a lot for the help.
Hey, sorry i just able to reply again. So i did memtest as you suggest. I did 2 times, 1 with everything default. (and sadly i forgot to take photo of the end test, but yeah it's all pass without any error) And the 2nd time. I did try with PBO setting and EXPO. And yeah it's pass as well without any error. But yeah i recognized 1 time, when i just turn on the PC and open the HWinfo, my corsair commander voltage is unstable. I haven't have time to try to open the case and re-check the cable. But i want to try check the PSU cable later and maybe switch the power sata cable, in case this is the culprit. And updated for now, yeah the problem still exist. Did try again with all default setting, no PBO and no EXPO.
An update for this. So i ended up changing my CPU to Ryzen 7 7800X3D. And literally done nothing to the cable. 1 week now and i don't have any problem with crashing or power off anymore. So is it possible because of the 7600X before? And regarding the corsair commander. I read and some people have the same problem with the Commander. So i think, the problem before wasn't Commander. But can't be sure as well.
