The i9 9900K with a 3070 remains functional for 1080p gaming in 2026 and beyond. You’ve found a good balance, and since you’re not pushing it to the limits, you should still enjoy solid performance. Your setup works well for the games you play, and sticking with 1080p seems like a smart choice if you want to delay upgrading. It’s worth keeping an eye on future updates, but right now it looks solid.

I share the same CPU as your GPU and use a 2080 graphics card. I run 4K games smoothly without too many problems. At 1080p it should last for several years, though new AAA titles often aren't well optimized anymore.

It's hard to tell what game developers prioritize in terms of development, quality, or performance. Your preferences matter—texture detail versus smooth gameplay. 1080p only covers resolution; if that’s your main concern, you’ll stay okay for about 5 to 10 years without needing a GPU upgrade.

It remains a solid choice, particularly for 1080p resolution, though it’s clearly a step back from the 3080. You could still display it on a wall if it performs adequately… Though there’s definitely a significant difference compared to the 3070 model.
