Greetings to all...
Graphics board update problem
: Strange: my newer MSI RTX 3060 "Ventus" 12G board (8pin power) does not accept PCIe 6+2 power cable from my older Solytech SL-8600EPS; the pins appear too thick to plug in. That existing cable (a dual one, actually) feeds an older MSI GTX 770 with 8+6 pin power. What are my options? I am getting a J&D 6pin (female) to 8pin (male) PCIe adapter, hoping that both ends will fit my board and cable. This is a 170W board. Please advise -- and thanks! -- Ivan

most of the SolyTech units i've seen are quite low quality.
i wouldn't rely on one with even a simple system, let alone a gaming rig with a decent GPU.
since their included cables don't fit certain cards, i would definitely switch to something much better.
using cable converters or adapters can cause additional issues and risks.

And this one is the same, inexpensive and heavily regulated by groups. Likely over 15 years old now, so it's just as outdated and faulty as before. OP, if you're struggling to connect to this PSU, you should be grateful that luck or something greater is stopping you from making a mistake by linking this very low-quality PSU to your GPU. Don't use any adapters. The fact that it hasn't destroyed your GTX 770 should be seen as proof of good fortune.
