your setup includes an i9 13900k, asus rog strix oc 4090, samsung 990 pro nvme ssd, 16gb ram, dominator 5600mhz, and an evga gq power supply. sometimes the screen flickers or loses display, and it seems to recover or not. i thought the issue was with the graphics card but they replaced it and got the same problem. in event viewer it shows an nvlddmkm error saying the description can't be found. it happens regardless of what you're doing—gaming, watching videos, etc. if you have more details, please share. i'm struggling right now.

It seems like the issue involves hardware with intermittent problems. A loose connection is likely the cause, so try re-seating everything multiple times. If the device is new, a burn might be the reason; if it’s very old, an age-related failure could be involved. Starting with the ports makes sense, though they can also apply to older models. Also, verify the resistances of all cables—there are many, and any kinks could affect performance.

Consider using a different GPU; if the problem persists, the issue might lie with your motherboard or PCIe slot. Also, check the NVLink settings—using the correct driver like ddu could resolve the problem.

I switched to another GPU, but it worked fine. I’m not assuming anything about the GPU side since this is my second card from RMA. What’s up?

The ddu will proceed if it continues to persist.

A fresh setup performs exactly like DDU, but DDU works significantly quicker.

Show the Driver Uninstaller. Both Nvidia and AMD place files in odd spots that a package manager might recognize, but those “wizards” aren’t trustworthy. DDU cleans up those areas without needing a full reinstall. The process involves strange steps. You’ll need to launch it from safe mode. There are guides available. It’s free for personal use only, so just a somewhat tricky download.

The problem persists with the NVDLMKM error, and I also see an ASUS timeout in Event Viewer. I forgot to uninstall the Armory crate, which caused an error during startup—initially it was working before the uninstallation. Additionally, I’m encountering distributed COM errors.

This product is the absolute worst part of the brand. Removing armory cray can affect system functions, so double-check all installations are correct.

Consider reinstalling Armory Crate if you're experiencing issues or need a fresh setup.
