Hi, so your brother is experiencing some performance problems. He has a powerful CPU (13600k) but his GPU is quite outdated (1060 6GB). I’m wondering if the GPU might be the main cause, or if new drivers aren’t compatible with it. It could also be due to an imbalance between components—everything else seems up-to-date except the graphics card. Another possibility is the monitor; he uses a Dell S2522HG that’s only about a year old, and he reported issues even with a 144Hz display. He consistently gets around 240 FPS in games like Valorant, Fortnite, and CS, but when the frame rate drops to 80-100 in singleplayer games, it looks very choppy compared to what my monitor shows. Let me know if you think any of these could be the reason. Thanks!
It would be interesting to see if 240 fps is achievable in CS:GO and Fortnite with just an 1060 and the latest patches. Perhaps Counter-Strike: Source? Test it out and check how it performs. Generally, consistency matters—any deviation in the low frame rates will be quite obvious. With a 1060, you've likely reached your limits, so little can be done further.
This setup seems odd given the limited GPU power and the 240Hz display. At this stage, a 1060 feels more akin to a 1080p/60fps card, though it may still face challenges in newer games.
