In short I used an ASUS Z790-F motherboard and after six months the second RAM slot stopped working. I tried resetting the CPU by accident and broke the pins, which was a big mistake. I ended up buying another board, which was the same model. Everything worked until a week later when the same problem appeared on a brand-new motherboard. When inserting RAM into the second slot it shows a yellow light meaning something is wrong, but putting RAM in the 4th slot fixes everything. I’m really confused about what’s happening.
Yes, that's correct. You mentioned only one stick of RAM has been installed on the motherboard.
The problem seems to be related to the CPU rather than the boards themselves. It might be due to excessive pressure on the CPU cooler, which could affect contact with the motherboard pin. Another possibility is physical damage from bending, especially if the ILM layer is compromised—a common issue with LGA1700 chips. A loose cooler or a contact frame could help, but I’m not sure it’s the main cause. Try adjusting the cooler first and let me know what you find. It should be simple to tighten with a screwdriver.
Hey, you have two RAM sticks but are only using one right now because Windows can't boot with both. When a game loads, the mouse cursor feels extremely slow, like it's running at about 3 frames per second.
Thank you for your response. I'll give it another shot. Also, when using just one stick of RAM and the games are loading, the mouse cursor becomes very slow, almost as if it's running at 3 frames per second. I'm not sure why this happens, but I'll try loosening the screws to see if it improves things.
