Hello, your situation sounds a bit confusing. When you activated Windows 10 Pro, it asked for a product key, but you chose not to enter it. After connecting to the internet and linking your Microsoft account, the activation status showed "Windows is activated" without any progress. Even though you've updated everything and kept the PC running, it still displays that message.

Regarding the upgrade from Windows 8 Pro to Windows 10, it’s possible you received a free upgrade if you had Windows 7 Home Premium installed before. However, this doesn’t always apply automatically. Check your system details or contact Microsoft support for confirmation.

You can verify if your Windows is activated by checking the settings or using the Activation key. To confirm legitimacy, ensure you have a valid product key and that your license is properly registered.
