FRAPs remains useful today. The latest build was around 2013, and the Afterburner OSD is likely the best option for compatible games.

FRAPS remains quite functional. It has some performance issues but the Win7 version runs smoothly on Windows 10.

Many programs exist for this purpose. MSI Afterburner offers an overlay displaying various system metrics such as core clock, temperature, and FPS. There are also more straightforward options like the GeForce Experience overlay, which activates by pressing ALT+Z (approximately).
