I was watching a film using VLC while having a virus check running in the background. A small corruption appeared, which you might describe as a minor issue. After rewinding, it disappeared. I ran another scan later and noticed it was near the end of the files. Could these two events be connected? Did the scan cause any problems when it happened?

Or the GPU failing might be happening, though I'm not sure if a lot of it is actually working with VLC.

Check the VLC folder and observe the behavior; it should match what happens when scanning that specific folder for testing, even if it’s just theoretically.

Attempted but failed – the file uses X264 encoding, resulting in poor quality, and similar issues have occurred before despite corruption.

Check the drivers directory in both System 32 and SystemWOW64 locations.

It could be - many options - my card has been acting odd lately, it’s a bit complicated, and probably a mix of several factors.
