For a few reasons I chose to modify my RAM, the Kingston HyperX Fury DDR4 2666MHz (I know it's slow for memory). I opened the BIOS and selected XMP, but it started to bluescreen for an unclear reason. After enabling optimized defaults, everything functioned properly again. I turned XMP back on and the issue disappeared.

I tried to recover the RAM by picking a frequency and adjusting the voltage, wondering if this was normal or if I should revert to the original 2666MHz with stock voltages.

Bios is up to date.
Memory type: HX426C16FB2K2/16
I own two units, so it's a 4x8 configuration.
Current timings from nzxt cam: 16-18-18-39 (should be standard).
Memory clock is 1600MHz with voltages of 1.35.
Motherboard and CPU combo is ASUS Z390-F Gaming with OC'd 9900k.

9900K supports 2666 MHz RAM without needing XMP or overclocking. Additionally, exceeding the rated frequency of RAM modules typically requires particular memory types from specific makers.
