Hello. I've encountered a similar problem where lag spikes occur unexpectedly in certain games, especially Overwatch. After resetting my PC, the issue persisted. In VALORANT, the spikes only appear at the start of a round and never recur, but in Overwatch, they happen consistently and disrupt gameplay. I use an old gaming laptop with an external monitor, and during these spikes, the screen on my side darkens and then brightens briefly. I'm unsure how to resolve this and would appreciate any advice or assistance. A video link is available to help illustrate the issue.

Details? Also, using the "repair" function is essentially a reformat, but you're too lazy to do it properly.

laptop from 2016 with GTX 1060 i7 6700 and 16GB RAM – need some advice. I’m new to computers, so any tips would be great!

Monitor temperatures while playing, install HWinfo64. Your computer probably limits performance. Just activate sensors when launching the app.
