I possess a supposedly failing SSD (Corsair Force MP500) and Corsair is offering a replacement. The challenge is they require me to return the faulty one first, which is minor since it's my boot drive. I have additional hard drives available temporarily to run Windows. My goal is to transfer everything—programs, settings, etc.—without any loss. I’ve heard about migration tools but am concerned about data integrity during the process. Are there reliable options? Or is there a more secure approach? While Windows is installed, can I boot from it and use it normally? Or should I wait until after receiving the new drive to perform a direct migration? I might also ask Corsair if I can send back the old drive once the new one arrives, enabling a straightforward transfer (I only have one M.2 PCIe slot).

You need a disc cloning tool. I currently use Norton GHOST 2003, which functions perfectly without any problems, but there are other free alternatives available. It copies data to any drive you own, matching or exceeding its capacity, then you can switch drives and operate normally.

Clonezilla is a free tool you can download to transfer your boot drive data onto another storage device. Simply install it on a USB stick, flash the Clonezilla software onto it, and select the cloning option on your system drive.

Consider your needs and preferences when choosing between Debian and Ubuntu. Both are stable and widely supported, but Debian may offer more flexibility for advanced users.

You've encountered issues with Bitlocker interfering during cloning. It seems to be affecting the size display in Minitool Partition Wizard and sometimes hiding the destination drive in File Explorer. The Clonezilla corruption you noticed might be the root cause. You're wondering whether to proceed with a recovery using Clonezilla and how to handle the scan option during cloning. The missing partclone.log file is also a concern.

So I ran Clonezilla again, this time in Expert mode, and added the -Rescue flag (I figured it out!), and everything went smooth, no errors. Still doesn't show up in File Explorer, but does in Minitool, so I guess it's time for the field test? I'm going to take out the SSD, see if it still boots.... As of now I'm still booting off the SSD, for some reason I don't have any option otherwise.

Failed to boot Windows, recovery mode activated but no improvement. Even that didn't resolve the issue—I pressed any key and it either flashed or reset to the same screen. Reinserting the SSD restored normal operation. The Corsair SSD toolbox also produced an error: "Partitions is not resizable." I'm running out of options. Perhaps reaching out to Corsair for guidance would be the best next step.
