I experienced thermal problems before and fixed them with new thermal paste on my Dell G3 laptop with an i7-9750H CPU. Now after eight months, the issues have returned but are more intense. When idle, the CPU temperature stays near 60°C, but it spikes to about 100°C when a website loads in a browser, then drops back below 65°C afterward. The attached video shows the high temperatures during idle. Will another thermal paste change resolve this or is there another problem?

It seems like you're wondering about the laptop cooler fan's performance. You might want to verify if it's running properly and consider cleaning it if needed.

I'm not entirely sure, but you mentioned swapping the thermal paste around eight months ago and it performed well. Thermal paste tends to last a long time, so those temperatures seem extreme. Do you recall the brand name of the paste?

Ideal for desktop processors. Poor performance with laptop direct die applications. Most reviews focus on desktop models. Very little long-term testing exists. This explains the existence of NT-H2. Skip MX-4 as well—same pumping issue arises. Try searching online for laptop paste and pump out options.

You should consider NT-H2, MX-5, or Cooler Master MasterGel Maker. Among them, MX-5 offers great expressiveness, making it a strong choice.

This pump-out phenomenon happens because the copper heat sink expands roughly four times faster than the CPU (silicon) when under heat stress. Applying Noctua NT-H1 on a bare CPU die works well initially, but the adhesive isn't strong enough to stay put. Right now I'm using Thermal Grizzly - Hydronaut, which is tailored for bare chips and has shown excellent results. I didn’t expect this outcome—great job unclewebb! You might want to double-check your re-grease application to rule it out. Also, make sure the fan is functioning properly. That’s all I can suggest.
