Temperatures rise sharply to 100°C unexpectedly!
I recently installed my new PC and everything was functioning perfectly until I ended a game and the CPU fan spiked to maximum. Temperatures were around 65°C during gaming, which confirmed my cooler’s performance. After checking OpenHardware Monitor, my CPU stayed at 100°C. I noticed the airflow from my AIO was reduced, but it felt normal otherwise. I replaced one of the fans with another and updated the BIOS, thinking maybe a faulty temperature reading was the issue. It seemed to resolve itself for about five days. Now I’m adding two new fans—one from my Alienware R6 and the other from my case—and switched back to the original setup since it offered better airflow. During another game spike, temperatures hit 100°C again. I applied a generous amount of Corsair TM30 thermal paste. Anyone know what’s causing this? Is my CPU giving incorrect readings? Any advice would be appreciated.
I reapplied thermal paste and reseated the aio this morning moving fans around. Will reseat the aio and reapply thermal paste tonight. Its hard to gauge whether it is a good solution because it happens far and few between. Thank you for your help!
