Temperature of I7-9700K
Hey there, newcomer. Could you let me know what the safe temperature range is for an i7-9700K? Would 80°C be too high if it runs nonstop?
80C works well under full load for a long time, especially since these chips run quite hot.
Max temperature reaches 100°C, but 90°C is fine for extended periods. 80°C poses no concern. To reduce heat, adjusting the fan curve might help (though it could increase noise).
It seems 80 aligns well with your performance data—your 9900k runs at up to 90c under synthetic load, paired with a 360 thick rad from ek, justifies that figure.
It varies based on the situation when you reach 80C. Are you getting 80C while simply browsing and watching YouTube? It's safe and won't lead to any problems. Could you share more details about your case, cooler, temperature range, etc.? I usually track my temperatures in three areas: idle, gaming, and stress tests with AVX load. My 9900K (5.1GHz all-core with AVX2) shows 30-35°C idle, 60-65°C gaming, and 80-85°C during stress tests.
Temperatures are soaring above 80-90°C with a 360-degree boost! This is the first time I've experienced something like this. Since none of my friends have 9th Gen Intel chips, I haven't had a chance to test the 9700 and 9900K directly. I'm curious how much performance I could achieve with them, especially since I've had fun getting my old 2600K stable at around 4.6-4.7ghz. Maybe I'll hold off until a really cold winter makes it worthwhile.
