I understand it's been a while, so I thought I'd provide an update. After some discussion with AMD tech, all available options were considered. The card was overheating significantly beyond normal levels, aside from the case. It seems the graphite pads might be faulty, so they sent me for an RMA. Unfortunately, they couldn't find the card in stock, so I received a full refund instead. I've already ordered a replacement and chose the MSI I 6950 XT Gaming X Trio. Since I was planning to buy components anyway, I also selected an AIO for my CPU to help dissipate any remaining heat and improved the case appearance. Included a vertical GPU mount just in case.
