Hi everyone. I'm experiencing some temperature fluctuations on my MSI GE63 RAIDER laptop while gaming. The temps rise to about 93°C during intense moments, but usually stay between 80-90°C under load, dropping to around 72°C when the scene changes. I've read mixed advice online—some say it's okay as long as it doesn't exceed 90°C, while others warn about needing a technician if things get too hot. I'm considering replacing the thermal paste for Doom sessions, which would be expensive. My estimate is an average of around 85°C during gameplay, but it throttles noticeably once it hits roughly 93°C. For reference, another review mentions similar issues with this model and a GTX 1070 setup. If you have more details or want to discuss further, feel free to share!
Temperature changes will differ based on surrounding conditions as well.
In my opinion, updating could work well for an old laptop, since the video is six years old. I haven't played it yet, but I believe Doom is a demanding CPU game.
A comparable CPU was found in my father's work laptop, which became extremely hot and frequently crashed. Although the machine had adequate cooling, it still overheated regardless of adjustments. You can always keep the laptop tidy and use compressed air to help maintain performance.
