I'm not familiar with an "overclocker" but I understand you're concerned about damaging your CPU after running high temperatures. Please let me know if you need advice on checking temperatures or preventing overheating.

Ensure you're using the correct Prime95 version, specifically v26.6 or earlier. Later versions may cause testing issues and lead to inaccurate temperatures. Reviewing the guide should help.

Even if the computer keeps turning on you, it hasn't been damaged.

I just got an overclocker with a CPU at 4.2ghz, but after running Prime95 at 100°C I'm worried it might have failed. If it still works, it's probably fine, but I shouldn't try this again.

Ensure you're using the right version of Prime95. You need v26.6 or earlier, as later versions won't provide accurate testing and may cause temperatures similar to what you're observing. Also review the article on Intel temperatures—it should clarify what the maximum safe temperature is for your i5-4690k. The 105°C core temperature would trigger a shutdown to protect the CPU. Please confirm if this matches your understanding.
