I just came back from the console world and saw something really interesting about gaming on my PC. The cut scenes often look worse than the actual gameplay, which is surprising. Usually, consoles are better at this, so it's quite funny. It shows how much PC gaming has improved overall.
They rely on identical files from the multi-platform projects that needed to fit onto a DVD because of Microsoft's choice not to adopt Blu-ray for the 360. Luckily, this issue should soon disappear.
That's due to the fact that the cutscenes are already pre-rendered. Your PC can produce smoother gameplay than the developers did for those scenes. On the console, the developers create the cutscenes more effectively than the console does for the gameplay.
I understand the reason behind this. It was both surprising and impressive to go through it!
