I apologize for not being part of the community from the start. I’ve been exploring online since a long time, following Linus on YouTube, but never joining or contributing. Now I’m really struggling here. I’m not new to tech—I work in support, managing computer and parts departments, and troubleshooting service teams. That gives me some experience. I’ve also been working as a photographer for a few years, so these issues pop up when needed, like during upgrades or when Lightroom slows down. My setup includes a Ryzen 5900X, 64GB RAM, Corsair 3600, Samsung 980 M.2, Seagate FireCuda 1TB M.2, and a RAID array. It’s not bad. But while using Lightroom, my system load stays low (15%), GPU usage is minimal (10% max), yet I’m seeing 60MB transfers. There seems to be a bottleneck, but I can’t pinpoint it. I’ve updated drivers and BIOS, run benchmarks, and even switched to NVMe M.2 drives, but it still lags. Please help—this is really frustrating!
Which GPU is being used? A 60MB/s speed is typical, LR usually doesn’t need extra bandwidth and won’t either when handling 24MB RAW files. It’s fairly normal because it already exceeds 2 pictures per second and still reads ahead. Is Windows configured for performance mode?
The Nvidia 3060 runs smoothly in Windows mode with high performance settings. However, when browsing images in Lightroom, previews are slow—each image takes half to a second to load, making the experience feel extremely laggy.
I've faced several problems with LR before. They often stemmed from older hardware, power-saving settings (make sure to check the old control panel as well), or having both a dedicated GPU and the CPU integrated—none of these match your current configuration. Some files also slowed things down. It works well on my usual Sony devices, but I've had issues with a Nikon P1000 too.
