Hello everyone. I’ve been optimizing my Ryzen 5 3600 all-core at 4.45 GHz with 1.35V on air (SilentiumPC Fera 3). The motherboard is Gigabyte B450 Aorus M, and I’m using two 16GB G.SKILL Trident Z Neo 3600 MHz CL16 chips. My PSU is a 750W EVGA Supernova G2, paired with an Aorus GTX 1080 Ti. I’m curious—does increasing RAM speed to XMP really cause a noticeable jump in power draw and heat? From my tests with Prime95, when I ran at stock speeds (2133 MHz CL15 1.2V), the power dropped to about 62W, but with XMP enabled at 3600 MHz CL16 and 1.35V, it fell to roughly 78W. The difference is consistent across runs, though power usage can fluctuate slightly.
It might be due to the CPU's enhanced performance when it has quicker memory access.
