This has been a persistent problem with my PC for roughly four years since it was built. I understand this post may be lengthy, but I’m compiling all the details I’ve gathered to avoid repeating yourself. Essentially, whenever Task Manager is active—no matter how long it’s been running—I freeze. My mouse becomes sluggish, keyboard responses lag, and overall system performance drops. It continues until Task Manager sorts by name again. Once sorted, the issue disappears until I change the sorting criteria, such as CPU or RAM. Very rarely, I hear a beep from my headphones during the lag, and today my wired PS4 controller’s light turned off and back on.

Other observations:
- The problem occurs even when Task Manager is in Safe Mode.
- My drivers are current.
- No errors appear in the Windows Event Viewer.
- It happens no matter whether a PS4 controller is connected.
- My keyboard is a Logitech G213.
- When it first started, my mouse was a G303 and now a Pro Hero (wired), yet the issue persists.
- At the time, I had 16GB RAM; now I have 48GB, but it still occurs.
- A similar incident happened once while running a Windows 7 VM in VMWare with an iPod Touch connected.
- My mouse and keyboard still lag during the problem.
- The frame rate stays stable; videos play smoothly without interruption (audio included).
- Only mouse and keyboard seem to be affected.
- Videos and Windows Explorer rarely lag, except possibly in Task Manager.
- PC specs: AMD Ryzen 5 1600X CPU, ASIS ROG STRIX B350-F motherboard, G.Skill Trident Z RGB RAM (48GB, 3200MHz), Samsung SSD 970 Evo, Zotac GeForce GTS 1060 GPU, Corsair CX 450W PSU.
- Operating system: Windows 10 Home, version 21H1.

I’ve endured this for four years and am frustrated. Please assist me.

I’ve encountered the same problem with the updated version, including Windows 11. It seems like a software glitch, maybe a memory leak. The recent updates are really frustrating.

It seems your device might be experiencing issues due to a corrupted driver. Try installing DDU and fixing the driver after reinstalling Nvidia Experience. If that doesn’t help, use Windows 10’s repair tool via CMD: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

I shared how I resolved a problem very similar to what was discussed. I discovered the issue was linked to the fTPM module on the AMD board/processor. By turning off the built-in fTPM in the BIOS, I nearly eliminated the lag. I also bought a separate TPM device and connected it via the motherboard, which helped too. This should assist anyone encountering the same situation.
