Hey everyone,
I personally found playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. SoC and Clear Sky quite enjoyable. However, I wasn’t impressed by the open-world random events in Call of Pripyat—these still need many bug fixes and glitches resolved.
Still, focusing on the main subject, it seems GSC GameWorld has shared three fresh screenshots for the eagerly anticipated S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl. These in-game images highlight the progress made using Epic’s Unreal Engine 5. That said, they don’t quite meet my expectations.
It’s clear the game is likely in an early development phase, but these generic shots don’t make up for it.
Regarding the gameplay itself, STALKER 2 promises an epic, non-linear narrative. Your decisions will shape both immediate results and long-term consequences. The setting is set within the Chernobyl exclusion zone, with new areas added alongside existing ones.
GSC GameWorld has confirmed they’ll employ motion capture for characters and faces, as well as photogrammetry. They’ll also support mods at launch and Ray Tracing effects. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl is slated for a 2023 release using Unreal Engine 5.
These screenshots shared on STEAM in December 2021 seem promising at the time.

this game has faced such delays and might encounter even greater issues due to the situation in Ukraine.
the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series has always been a favorite of mine, having played Shadow of Chernobyl over 14 years ago.
i still enjoy replaying the whole series every couple of years, thanks to some good graphics and gameplay mods. it's impressive how it still stands up against modern titles.
the Lost Alpha overhaul mod is also interesting to play, offering additional content and features for SoC that weren't included in the final release.
i'm eager to try Heart of Chernobyl, one of my most anticipated games ever.

The series is pretty good, no doubt, but I'm skeptical whether they will deliver a polished product or not. There are so many hurdles and delays with GSC GameWorld these days. Hope they don't downgrade the graphics as well.
And yes, LOST ALPHA mod is awesome. There are still a few bugs, but it's a good and worthy modification.
